I just clicked on a link to the Marzocchi web page. Fire-sale on 380 Forks (dual crown DH) and...

THE 350 SERIES IS GONE!!!!!!!!!!  :(

I knew it would happen. Thought it would have been two years ago. The best all around fork in its category is gone. I wonder how long I can keep my 350 running well...

I guess my next fork will have to be the Cane Creek Helm! (in coil, of course!)

So now what's going on? This popped up in the banner on Vital MTB:

    https://shop.marzocchi.com/?utm_source=vitalmtb.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=vital

Getting rid of everything (no 350s left, apparently) but "brand new" clothing.

My guess is liquidating and ceasing production.

I posted two months ago that they were done - well, that and two years ago. Yet they still pop up and haunt me. Damn you Fox evil overlords for killing the brand, but letting it die a drawn out and painful death.

So you can buy a fork for a little bit of a discount.....only to not be able to find service/replacement parts a year from now.

The seals will always be available from a third party, maybe Fox will keep the other parts in stock.

Edit: That 320 LR might be the thing for my 12 year old's bike, too bad I'll have to replace her front wheel as well to use it, but it'll beat the snot off a cheap Suntour fork.

JensonUSA has that C2R2 Ti DH fork cheaper than Marz's own webstore, lol. And you can spend a little more and get the better model of that XC fork too.

The Grip Damper is what is on my Performance 36 as well as the Rhythm 34. Not highly adjustable, but very usable.

I finally love my 36 ... at 15 psi under factory suggested psi, anyway. It is a sick fork.

Is anyone riding a Marzocchi at EWS?

As I have mentioned in the Fox 36 thread and elsewhere...

The new fork does not handle high speed successive hits (in the foot-deep range) as well as my Marzocchi 350 NCR. I have tuned the 36 as well as it can be tuned with the available adjustments (internal spacers, air pressure, rebound and LSC settings).

I wonder how often any of us actually ride "high speed successive hits (in the foot-deep range) " ?

Thats HIGH SPEED and successive hits..... 12 inches high.

I'm just gonna throw a number out there and say 5% of us , maybe 1% of the ride time.

You haven't ridden the blown out county park trails here in the OC......those are what are considered braking bumps....and they are everywhere. :bang: :gag:

Well for starters, it's an IFP (Inferior Fox Product) ;)

Seems like every year the new products come out and everyone hypes Fox and how amazing it is and fixed all the past years issues, blah blah blah. Then people actually ride them for a few months and find out they're not so awesome after all. That's just been my impression. I've run a number of them, some were good and some were terrible no matter how you adjusted them.

l was going to say that you OCers have a unique situation going on there. Mostly due to your specific terrain. The extreme bump/drop results is how your terrain reacts to heavy use.

I doubt that there is anything wrong with the Fox 36 ol’ Herz has. The issue is the terrain. I guess we can consider him lucky to have ever found a fork that can deal with it.

I knew deep inside that the OC was flawed. This is concrete evidence.

AAAARRRGGGHHHH! No no no no no... This is not about heavily used trails. You guys are killin' me. :bang:

I know what the hell I'm talking about when it comes to a fork's performance. Yes, a fork that handles braking bumps well would be nice, but I am not referring to braking bumps. I am referring to things like The Luge, Rock-It, 5-Oaks, Car Wreck, Lynx, Lizard and many other trails that have successive rocks, ledges, ruts and holes that I take at a relatively high rate of speed. If I had no standard of comparison, I wouldn't be dissatisfied, however, both of my Marzocchi forks handled these trails better at speed than my new Fox 36 does, even on the same bike with the same tires, wheels and everything else.

I have not claimed there is anything wrong with my fork. I have claimed that I am mildly disappointed in its performance compared to other forks I've owned on the same trails. It is the best non-Marzocchi 350 I have ridden on those trails. Is it OK to be mildly disappointed, or will you all continue to assume I'm an idiot if I am not gushing about my new fork?

I did say foot-deep range because I was too lazy to say 8-12". How often? I'll throw a counter-number out there and say 90% of riders who ride rough trails and like to do so at more than a County Park Ranger's preferred rate of speed encounter high speed successive hits in the 8"-12" range on almost every ride. What percentage of the ride time? Well, given that downhill segments are a mere fraction of an overall ride's time, let's see 8 minutes out of a two hour ride is about 6% - yup, you're right a small percentage of the actual ride time.

So Cal is most known for it's cross-country type riding so I, for one, think you would look fabulous on a light weight, carbon fiber XC HT 29er race machine.

It would solve your Marzocchi 350 fork woes, too...

I feel your pain. My fork doesn't do the greatest job of smoothing out the chop on the Mormon Hill descent. Or on Motorway, come to think of it.

Maybe that has something to do with the hardtail-ness of the bike, too.

Yup. That's why most of the world's DHers and EWS competitors ride here in the off-season! o_O

But yes, I think I should definitely get a light XC hardtail 29er. After all, I am getting older. I better slow down and focus on climbing. :sneaky:
